Penfolds Bin 28 is one of Australia's most enduring red wines, first released in 1959 and named after the original Kalimna Shiraz vineyard in the Barossa Valley. It stands as a celebration of warm-climate Shiraz, drawing on fruit from several South Australian regions and matured in seasoned American oak in the classic Penfolds tradition.
Deeply coloured and generous, it shows ripe dark berries, plum and blackberry alongside notes of dark chocolate, liquorice and warm baking spice. The palate is full and richly fruited, with supple tannins and a savoury, lingering finish.
A robust, food-friendly red that suits barbecued meats, hearty casseroles and mature cheddar, and one that will continue to develop with time in the cellar.
