Paulaner Hefe-Weissbier Naturtrüb comes from Munich's Paulaner brewery, whose roots go back to 1634, when the Paulaner friars of the Neudeck ob der Au monastery began brewing beer. Today Paulaner is one of the city's great breweries and a fixture of Oktoberfest, and its naturally cloudy wheat beer is one of the most famous examples of the Bavarian style.
Brewed in accordance with the German Purity Law, it pours a hazy golden orange with a thick, fluffy white head. The aroma is fruity and fresh, with notes of banana and a hint of clove from the traditional wheat beer yeast. The palate is full and smooth, with a gentle sweetness balanced by a light, refreshing tartness and a soft, creamy mouthfeel.
Pour slowly into a tall weizen glass, swirling the last of the beer to lift the yeast before topping up. It is a classic match for Weisswurst, pretzels, roast chicken, seafood and summer salads.
