The Moorooduc Estate Chardonnay is the family's Estate-tier white, a cool-climate Mornington Peninsula Chardonnay from one of the region's pioneering wineries. Moorooduc was founded in 1982 by Richard and Jill McIntyre and remains family-owned, with Richard, Kate McIntyre MW and Jeremy Magyar making the wines.
The fruit comes predominantly from the McIntyre home vineyard, first planted in 1983 on an elevated, gently north-facing slope, with a smaller portion from the Robinson Vineyard at Tuerong. It is wild-yeast fermented in French oak barriques with only a small share of new oak, and given minimal fining and filtration, in keeping with the estate's hands-on, minimal-intervention style.
The 2025 offers white peach, fleshy lemon and lemon barley aromas, with a fresh, beautifully textured palate and a distinctive salty mineral edge running through the finish. It is a refined, food-friendly Chardonnay that suits seafood, roast chicken and creamy pasta dishes.
