Colle Marianna is the creation of Antonio Fattori, one of the acknowledged masters of Soave, working under his Monte Ronca label from the commune of Ronca in the heart of Garganega country. The Fattori family farms vineyards on the ridge dividing the Alpone and Illasi valleys, with parcels climbing close to 500 metres on the steep, volcanic slopes of Monte Calvarino.
100% Garganega planted on basalt-rich volcanic soils. The nose is charmingly floral, with peach, green almond and stone fruit, lifted by fresh herb and wet-stone nuances. The palate is taut and mouth-watering, delivering pear and red apple over citrus and an intense, saline mineral finish typical of these high-altitude basalt sites.
Hand-picked at the end of September, crushed and fermented with around 85% in stainless steel and 15% in large-format casks. A small proportion — roughly 10% — of appassimento fruit is blended in to add flavour and textural weight while preserving the cooler structure of the site.
