Monte Ronca is a small family estate in the Soave hills east of Verona, working volcanic basalt soils on the slopes of Monte Calvarina. The Colle Marianna is the estate's village-level Soave, made entirely from Garganega farmed on the property's basalt vineyards, where the dark, mineral-rich soil and gentle elevation produce wines of clean cut and gentle complexity.
Fruit is hand-picked in late September and gently pressed, with the majority of the wine fermented in stainless steel to preserve freshness and a small portion aged in large neutral casks for added texture. The approach is deliberately low-key, letting the basalt site and the Garganega grape speak without fanfare.
Brilliant pale straw in the glass, the 2024 offers a charming nose of pear, peach, apricot, white blossom, green almond and a hint of wild sage. The palate is elegant and softly textured, with lemon-edged stone fruit and melon flavours, gentle creaminess and a stony, refreshing finish.
