Marion is a family-run estate in the Marcellise Valley just east of Verona, established in 1986 by Stefano and Nicoletta Campedelli. Working with long-time consultant Celestino Gaspari, formerly cellar master at Giuseppe Quintarelli, the property has become one of Valpolicella's most respected addresses, regarded alongside Quintarelli and Dal Forno by writers including Jancis Robinson.
The Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG is crafted from hand-harvested Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella, with small amounts of Croatina and occasionally Molinara. Grapes are carefully selected and dried naturally in the estate's Fruttaio for over three months before crushing in December, followed by a 24-36 hour cold soak and spontaneous fermentation. The wine is then aged for several years in Slavonian oak casks and French barriques.
It shows a deep ruby colour and captivating aromas of cherry, dried plum, warm spices and dark chocolate. The palate is balanced and seamless with velvet-textured tannins, savoury mineral notes and a long, elegant finish — the signature style of this cult Valpolicella producer.
