Lindemans Kriek is a Belgian cherry lambic from Brouwerij Lindemans, the family brewery that has been making lambic in Vlezenbeek, on the edge of the Pajottenland near Brussels, since 1822. In 1979 Lindemans pioneered a new approach to fruit beer by blending lambic with cherries, and Kriek has since become the brewery's best-known beer around the world.
It is made by adding cherry juice to a blend of lambics of different ages, spontaneously fermented beers that develop their character through wild yeasts. It pours a brilliant red with a pink head and a lively sparkle. Bright cherry leads on the nose and palate, balanced by a gentle lambic tartness, with a light body and a refreshing, fruity finish.
Serve well chilled in a flute or tulip glass. It works beautifully as an aperitif and pairs well with chocolate desserts, cheesecake, fresh berries and soft cheeses.
