Kilchoman 100% Islay 15th Edition is a single malt Scotch whisky from the Kilchoman farm distillery on the island of Islay. It belongs to the distillery's celebrated 100% Islay range, where every step, from growing and malting the barley through to distillation, maturation and bottling, takes place on the farm itself. The 15th Edition is the latest in this annual series and draws on Kilchoman's own estate-grown barley.
This release is matured exclusively in ex-bourbon barrels, which lend layers of vanilla, caramel and butterscotch. The 100% Islay malt carries a lighter peating than Kilchoman's core bottlings, giving a gentler, more nuanced smoke that sits alongside the fruit and oak.
The nose offers vanilla, tropical fruit, fresh hay and toasted oak with a grassy, coastal lift. On the palate expect milk chocolate, salted caramel and candied fruit threaded with lemon, ripe pear and a touch of white pepper, before a finish of maritime peat smoke, orchard fruit and honeyed sweetness.
