Il Marroneto Brunello di Montalcino Madonna delle Grazie 2021 750ml

From Il Marroneto, one of Brunello di Montalcino's most respected estates, founded in 1974 by Giuseppe Mori and run today by his son Alessandro Mori alongside Alessandro's son Iacopo. The vineyard takes its name from a 13th-century stone tower, originally used to dry chestnuts, that still stands on the property just outside the medieval walls of Montalcino.

The Madonna delle Grazie is the estate's flagship single-vineyard Brunello, named for the small chapel that stands beside the parcel. 100% Sangiovese from a single, north-facing site at around 350 metres altitude, on sandy, mineral-rich soils. Expect a profoundly elegant, layered wine with violet, orange peel, Earl Grey tea, dried cherry and woodland minerality, leading into a full-bodied, velvety palate carried by significant but ripe tannins, lifted acidity and a remarkably long, austere finish built for decades of cellaring.

Hand-harvested from old vines and vinified traditionally, with extended maceration before aging for the appellation-mandated minimum of two years in large Slavonian oak botti, followed by an extended period of bottle aging before release.
