Giacomo Conterno Barolo Riserva 'Monfortino' 2019 750ml

Monfortino is the flagship Riserva of Giacomo Conterno and, for many, the benchmark for traditional Barolo. Conceived by Giacomo Conterno in the 1920s as a wine to showcase the estate's very best fruit, it is only produced in exceptional vintages. From the 2015 vintage onwards, sources have been drawn from both the estate's Cascina Francia vineyard and the neighbouring Arione cru, acquired by Roberto Conterno in 2015.

100% Nebbiolo from the finest selected parcels. The style is monumental — dense, structured and deeply complex, with layered dark fruit, rose, tar, spice, earth and a towering tannic architecture built for very long cellaring. This is Nebbiolo at its most profound.

Fermented on skins for up to five weeks with no temperature control, then aged for seven years in large Slavonian oak botti before bottling. Total production is typically around 580 cases.
