Génot-Boulanger is a family-run Burgundy domaine based in Meursault, with holdings across both the Côte de Beaune and the Côte Chalonnaise. En Sazenay is one of the most highly regarded Mercurey premiers crus, planted on south-facing limestone slopes that consistently turn out wines with more cohesion and depth than many of the village's other premiers crus.
The 2022 is a pure, lifted Pinot from older vines. Aromas of red cherry, wild strawberry, soft spice and a hint of mushroom open up to a medium-bodied palate of sappy red fruit, supple but fine tannins and a lightly peppery, savoury finish. Suave and approachable on release, with real potential to evolve in the cellar.
An elegant Pinot for roast duck, mushroom dishes, charcuterie or a board of soft, washed-rind cheeses.
