Domaine François Raveneau is widely regarded as the greatest producer in Chablis — a benchmark estate now run by the second generation, with Isabelle Raveneau overseeing winemaking. Butteaux is a Premier Cru plot of 1.49 hectares with vines over 40 years old, set at the windswept top of the Montmains slope.
Fermented and aged in barrel, Raveneau's Butteaux is full-bodied, mineral and profoundly complex. The 2015 vintage, now over a decade old, will be drinking in a superb window of maturity — expect layers of pear, apple, lemon and chalk with anise and saline notes, and the extraordinary depth and length that have made Raveneau the most sought-after name in Chablis.
