Francesco Versio is a young Neive-based grower who has earned a strong reputation for his Barbaresco from his grandfather's tiny plots in the San Cristoforo and Currà MGAs. In 2017 he also took on a small ESE-facing vineyard in Borgata Pamparato, between Dogliani and Belvedere Langhe at 500m altitude, from which he makes this Dogliani.
100% Dolcetto from the prestigious Dogliani appellation, known for producing the most structured and age-worthy versions of the variety. Luminous ruby-red with a subtle purplish tinge, with a nose of dark berries, stone fruit, violet, wild herbs and subtle spice. The palate is fresh, juicy and easy — Francesco's intention is a Dolcetto in the traditional Piemontese Saturday-lunch style, made to be drunk young.
Fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel with a short 5–8 day maceration, preserving the bright fruit and approachability of the variety.
