Francesco Rinaldi e Figli has been making wine in Barolo since the 19th century, when Giovanni Rinaldi established the estate on the Cannubi hill. Still family owned and now run by Paola and Piera Rinaldi, the winery is known for its traditional approach to Piedmont's native grapes.
The Roussot is a Dolcetto d'Alba from the Roussot vineyard in the commune of Barolo, where vines planted in the 1970s grow on clay and chalk soils. Fermented with extended skin contact in temperature-controlled stainless steel and kept away from oak, it is made to showcase the grape's vibrant fruit.
Expect crunchy dark cherry and damson on the nose, followed by bright blackberry, cherry and plum flavours with hints of violet, almond and a touch of earth. Dry, juicy and easy-drinking, it has soft tannins and a gently bitter almond finish typical of the variety.
An everyday Piedmontese table wine, perfect with antipasti, salumi, pizza, pasta with tomato-based sauces or vitello tonnato.
