Edmond and Anne Vatan craft one of the most revered white wines in all of the Loire, a single Sancerre from a tiny plot within Les Monts Damnés, the appellation's most famous slope. The family has tended these vines for generations, working with time-honoured, minimal-intervention methods.
Made from old, low-yielding Sauvignon Blanc, fermented with native yeasts and raised in century-old wooden foudres, this is Sancerre of extraordinary depth and precision. Expect lemon zest, grapefruit and orchard fruit, white flowers and a profound flinty minerality. The palate is taut and linear, with clean acidity and a long, saline finish.
A profound white that rewards both patience and fine food, it is superb with shellfish, grilled fish, goat's cheese and richer poultry dishes.
