Eagle Rare 12 Year Old comes from Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, a National Historic Landmark whose distilling tradition dates back to 1775. Introduced in 2025 as a permanent addition to the Eagle Rare family, it sits alongside the familiar 10 Year Old, Double Eagle Very Rare and the older Eagle Rare 17 and 25 Year Old releases.
Like its 10 year sibling, it is made from Buffalo Trace's Mashbill #1, a low-rye bourbon recipe, but spends at least two extra years in barrel, with a minimum of 12 years ageing in closely monitored warehouses. Each barrel is hand selected by the distillery team, and it is bottled at a slightly higher strength than the 10 Year Old.
The nose is sweet and oaky with delicate hints of almond. The palate brings bold complexity, with subtle vanilla and toasted oak, leading into a rich, long-lasting finish of warm toffee.
