Maison E. Guigal, founded in 1946 by Étienne Guigal and today run by third-generation Philippe Guigal, is the most famous name in the northern Rhône. La Doriane, first produced in 1994, is the house's luxury Condrieu cuvée — widely credited with bringing Condrieu back into the international spotlight and redefining the benchmark for great Viognier.
100% Viognier blended from a small number of the house's top Condrieu lieux-dits, including Côte Chatillon, Chéry and Colombier, with vines averaging around 35 years of age on the appellation's vertiginous granite terraces. Expect an explosive bouquet of apricot, white peach, honeysuckle, acacia and crushed stone, with a rich, full-bodied yet supremely precise palate and a long, mineral finish.
Hand-harvested from steep, terraced vineyards. Fermented and matured for around 12 months in 100% new French oak barriques, with full malolactic fermentation — a winemaking approach that, given the concentration of the fruit, integrates seamlessly rather than dominating.
