Dry River is one of New Zealand's most revered small estates, based in Martinborough at the southern tip of the North Island and known for a fastidiously detailed approach across a tight range of varieties. The Lovat Vineyard sits within the family's holdings and is home to mature Gewürztraminer vines now well over two decades old, on free-draining river-terrace soils that suit the variety's aromatic personality.

Hand-harvested grapes are gently pressed and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel, with the natural sugar balance fine-tuned to leave the wine off-dry for textural lift rather than overt sweetness. Lees work and bottle ageing in the cellar before release add the depth and savoury edge that mark the Dry River style.

The nose is classically expressive of fine Gewürztraminer, with lychee, rose petal, Turkish delight, ripe pear and a flicker of warm spice. The palate is rich and silky with a juicy mid-weight, balanced by fresh acidity and a saline stone-mineral lift through the finish. A versatile partner for spicier Asian dishes, blue cheeses and aromatic charcuterie.
