A Mâcon-Villages from Domaine Saumaize-Michelin, a 10-hectare estate based in Vergisson in the heart of the Mâconnais. Founded in 1977 when Roger Saumaize received vineyards from his father, the estate is now run by Roger, his wife Christine (née Michelin) and their son Vivien. It has been farmed biodynamically since 2006 - unusual in an appellation where herbicide use is still common.
100% Chardonnay from Mâconnais vineyards farmed with limited yields and manual harvesting. Expect a pure, terroir-expressive white Burgundy with orchard fruit, citrus, white flowers and a subtle stony minerality, leading into a richly textured, well-balanced palate with a clean, elegant finish.
Hand-harvested with low yields. Fermented in barrel with full malolactic, then aged on lees with no more than 15% new oak in the élevage - a style that has earned the domaine comparisons to Côte d'Or Premier Crus.
