Domaine Ponsot Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru 2019 750ml

Drawn from a small parcel (0.47 hectares) of vines replanted in 1990, the first domaine bottling of this wine dates back to 1970. The vines are in the Gémeaux lieu-dit that borders Cherbaudes, and En la Chapelle, which in turn borders En Griotte. The soils here are particularly poor and rocky, and typically produce a wine of great minerality and longevity. Jasper Morris notes that this cuvée is now seeing a “longer cuvaison but with less extraction and lower temperatures”. It’s all the better for it.
