This is a red Grand Cru Burgundy from Domaine Philippe Bouzereau, a family estate based at the Château de Cîteaux in Meursault with roots in the Côte de Beaune stretching back nine generations. The wine is made from Pinot Noir grown on the celebrated hill of Corton, in the Bressandes climat, one of the great red Grand Cru sites of the Côte de Beaune.
The Bressandes parcel sits on an east and south-facing slope of reddish, stony soil rich in clay, marl and brown limestone. Farmed organically, the vines yield a wine of concentration and finesse, with a deep ruby colour and a bouquet of red berries, exotic wood and subtle spice.
Structured yet charming, it is complex and harmonious, with fine tannins and a long, gently mineral finish that continues to unfurl in the glass. A wine built for the cellar that will reward patient ageing.
