Domaine Ogereau is a fifth-generation Anjou estate in the Val du Layon, farmed by Vincent Ogereau and his son Emmanuel across around 25 hectares. The domaine is certified organic (Ecocert) and biodynamic (Biodyvin), with roots going back to the 1890s. 'En Chenin' is drawn from a four-hectare selection on the left bank of the Layon.
100% Chenin Blanc from old vines, some planted as early as the 1910s, on silt and grey schist (Brioverian metagreywacke) soils across north-east and south-east facing parcels. Expect a dry, detailed and mineral-driven Anjou white with aromas of pear, quince and citrus, a textural, saline palate and a long, stone-laced finish typical of top Chenin on schist.
Whole-cluster pressed with spontaneous partial malolactic fermentation, then aged around eight months on lees in a mix of 400–500L seasoned barrels, 20hL puncheons and underground sandstone tile-lined tanks — varying year to year.
