Mee Godard was born in South Korea and raised in France. She studied oenology in Oregon and Montpellier and worked in Burgundy before buying her own estate in Beaujolais in 2013. Her domaine centres on old-vine Morgon, and over the years she has added small holdings in Moulin-à-Vent and Fleurie. The vineyards have been certified organic since 2017, yields are kept deliberately low, and the wines ferment in concrete vats.
This Fleurie is pure Gamay from one of the most perfumed crus in Beaujolais, where vines grow on pink granite soils. It has the floral lift Fleurie is known for, with violet and rose petal over red cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry. The palate is supple and finely textured, with fresh acidity and a gentle mineral line that keeps it lively and refined rather than simply fruity.
Serve it lightly chilled in a large glass with roast chicken, charcuterie, grilled salmon or a mushroom risotto.
Vintages may vary. Email us at hello@barrelandbatch.com.au if you would like confirmation.
