'Les Levrons' is Domaine Génot-Boulanger's village-level Puligny-Montrachet, drawn from a lieu-dit sitting right at the edge of the premier-cru-level holdings in one of the Côte de Beaune's most revered white-wine villages. The estate is run by Guillaume and Aude Lavollée, the fourth generation at the domaine, with 22 hectares spread across all three Burgundy côtes.
Since 2008 the estate has been converted to organic farming with a biodynamic-leaning philosophy — "maximum work in the vineyards for minimum intervention in the cuverie". In the glass, this is classic Puligny Chardonnay: white orchard fruit, lemon zest, hazelnut and a fine mineral backbone, with a precise, energetic palate and the gentle salinity characteristic of the village's clay-limestone soils.
A beautifully made expression of village-level Puligny from one of Burgundy's quietly rising producers — a great value entry into a notoriously expensive appellation.
