Domaine Dugat-Py is one of the iconic addresses of the Côte de Nuits, based in Gevrey-Chambertin and best known for a roster of richly structured red Burgundies. Under the second-generation work of Loïc Dugat, the domaine has refined its house style toward greater transparency and finesse, with reduced new oak, gentler extraction and a sharper focus on letting each parcel speak for itself.
This Meursault Sous Blagny is sourced from a Premier Cru parcel on the cool, elevated southern fringe of Meursault, on chalky limestone soils that retain freshness even in warmer years. Chardonnay is hand-harvested, whole-bunch pressed and slowly aged in barrel with extended lees contact, producing a wine of cellaring potential and quiet poise rather than overt opulence.
The wine offers a refined bouquet of white peach, ripe pear, white flowers and a wisp of crushed shell, lifted by a touch of brioche from the lees. The palate is pure and open, bright and welcoming, with fine acid drive, a silky mid-palate and a long, saline finish that captures the cool character of the site.
