Domaine de la Pousse d'Or Chambolle-Musigny 2023 375ml

Domaine de la Pousse d'Or is one of Burgundy's most storied estates. Based in Volnay, it was once part of a larger domaine that included Romanée-Conti and Clos de Tart. Patrick Landanger purchased the estate in 1997 and, in the mid-2000s, added a significant collection of Côte de Nuits vineyards from Domaine Moine-Hudelot, including holdings in Chambolle-Musigny. Today his son Benoît Landanger makes the wines, and the vineyards are farmed along biodynamic principles without pesticides or herbicides.

This Chambolle-Musigny is the domaine's village wine from the commune, a 100% Pinot Noir drawn from seven separate parcels, two of which are rated Premier Cru. The vines are 30 to 60 years old and grow on the classic Burgundian mix of limestone, clay and marl.

The fruit is hand-harvested and destemmed, given a week of cold maceration and fermented with indigenous yeasts. The wine is aged for around 18 months in French oak barrels (about 20% new), moved by gravity and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Expect aromas of black and red cherry, violets, blue fruits, minerals and baking spice, with a suave, silky palate and fine-grained tannins true to the elegant Chambolle style.
