Les Feusselottes is a premier cru in Chambolle-Musigny, and it came to Domaine de la Pousse d'Or in 2008 as part of a substantial purchase of Chambolle vines from Domaine Moine-Hudelot. It was one of several acquisitions that took this historically Volnay based estate north into the Cote de Nuits.
Chambolle is the most perfumed village on the Cote de Nuits, and Feusselottes delivers that character with a little extra flesh. The nose is floral and lifted, all violet, rose petal, red cherry and raspberry, with a fine spice note and a chalky mineral edge behind. The palate is silky and finely detailed, tannins soft and closely woven, acidity keeping it bright through a long, gently savoury finish.
Patrick Landanger bought La Pousse d'Or in 1997 and spent the following years expanding it well beyond its Volnay roots, adding grand cru Corton and then a succession of Cote de Nuits parcels through the 2000s. Fruit is fermented on indigenous yeasts and the wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered. Lovely with duck, poultry, veal or mushroom dishes.
