Domaine Corcia is a small family estate in Mercurey, in Burgundy's Côte Chalonnaise, formerly known as Domaine de la Vieille Fontaine. Since the Corcia family took over in 2021, Raphaël Corcia has managed both vineyard and cellar, farming organically along biodynamic lines with cover crops, hand canopy work and organic composts.
Le Clos Pontot is a monopole, meaning the vineyard is owned entirely by the domaine, and its Pinot Noir vines were replanted in 1974. Some whole bunches are retained and macerations are long, producing a Mercurey Rouge with red berries, rose petals, orange zest and spice. The palate is medium-bodied, fleshy and supple, with an easy elegance.
Serve with roast duck, pork belly, coq au vin or a board of soft cheeses.
