From Domaine Armand Rousseau, the legendary estate based in Gevrey-Chambertin, founded in the early 20th century and a pioneer of estate bottling in the 1930s. Today the domaine is run by Eric Rousseau, grandson of Armand, alongside his daughter Cyrielle. With around 2.55 hectares in the Chambertin Grand Cru itself, Rousseau is among the largest holders of this iconic vineyard.
The flagship of the domaine: a Grand Cru wine from Le Chambertin, the historically pre-eminent vineyard of Gevrey, sitting just above Charmes-Chambertin between Latricières-Chambertin and Clos de Bèze. 100% Pinot Noir. Expect aromas of pure black cherry, raspberry and violet, leading into a medium-bodied, regally textured palate of great delineation and fine, firm tannins, with extraordinary length and the promise of decades of bottle development.
Hand-harvested and pneumatically pressed, with maturation in 100% new French oak barrels from François Frères. Aging continues for 20 to 22 months, with light filtration before bottling.
