Didier Dagueneau redefined the wines of the upper Loire, and the domaine that carries his name remains the benchmark for great Sauvignon Blanc. Farmed organically and biodynamically with extraordinary attention to detail, these are wines of remarkable purity and depth.
Silex is the estate's flagship, named for the flinty silex soils that give the wine its signature smoky minerality. Drawn from old, low-yielding vines and barrel-fermented with long lees ageing, it is powerful yet chiselled. Expect intense citrus and orchard fruit, a wild, struck-flint smokiness and grassy, mineral notes, all carried on a creamy yet energetic palate of great length.
One of the Loire's truly iconic whites, it is superb with oysters, shellfish, grilled fish and goat's cheese, and will reward time in the cellar.
