Courage & Conviction is the American single malt made by Virginia Distillery Co. at Lovingston, in the shadow of the Blue Ridge Mountains, from 100% malted barley.
Where the flagship marries three cask types, this bottling isolates just one. Maturation happens entirely in American oak ex-bourbon casks, the wood that gives the range its backbone, and the result is the most classically shaped expression the distillery makes.
Expect vanilla, caramel and butterscotch up front, with oak, a curl of smoke and warm cinnamon following through. A straightforward, comfortable pour, and a useful reference point against the sherry and cuvée cask releases alongside it.
