Let's dive into the story of how this single barrel of Tequila Turkish Delight came to be.

It all started when we got access to our first single barrel of Eagle Rare right at the onset of the pandemic. We had planned to go to Kentucky to pick our first barrel, but the circumstances changed everything. The distillery was running with a minimal crew, and we were fortunate enough to have Master Distiller Harlen Wheatley pick our first ever Eagle Rare single barrel. Even better, we could specify the flavour profile we wanted.

After the selection and as bottling was about to begin, we were asked if we'd like to "boomerang" the empty barrel by sending it to Mexico & filling it with new agave spirit distillate at the Corazon Distillery (Casa San Matias) . Fuelled by excitement & knowing there isn’t any other program available where you can select a single barrel of personalised Bourbon and turn it into a personalised Tequila, we eagerly agreed.

Fast forward to April 2021, when we released our Eagle Rare Single Barrel #1. Now, in late July 2024, we finally have the bottles in hand to share with you. This journey involved picking the barrel three times. Initially, the Reposado tasted great at the 10-month mark, but bottling was delayed due to ongoing closures at the distillery.

We sampled it again at 16 months, and it was perfect. However, bottling was postponed once more as pandemic severely impacted staff at the distillery. Finally, in December 2023, we selected it again, and it made its way to bottling and shipping.

After several years in the making, We are truly excited to release the first ever Corazon Single barrel into Australia for you to enjoy.

We've named this tequila "Tequila Turkish Delight," reminiscent of that Cadbury chocolate bar wrapped in pink. The tasting notes say it all: on the nose, you'll get rose water and lychees, with the classic Eagle Rare cherry flavour adding a touch of magic to this aged agave spirit.

Unique Anejo

This is my first time trying any of Corazon's special bourbon barrel aged expressions, but this beauty hits a delicious home run. I would agree with the two other reviews at the time of writing, this is a sweet, intriguing and distinctly individual release.
Turkish delight flavours describe this anejo well and will appeal to those who enjoy a sense of rose, which is uncharacteristic in tequila's normally. Its an easy sipper and one to add to any tequila collection if only to experience its uniqueness. I for one am thoroughly enjoying it and will snap up more before this ltd run disappears, I suggest you do too :)

Great sipping tequila

Corazón Añejo Turkish Delight Single Barrel is incredibly smooth with a subtle sweetness that sets it apart. The balance of oak and light floral notes makes it a great sipping tequila. Definitely worth trying for something unique.

Be intrigued

This is an intriguing, perhaps unique, tequila. On the nose it is a complex mix of Mercian lemons, cardamom and Tahitian limes. The palate is a surprising revelation of rose water and coconut on a firm agave foundation. The finish is a long and lingering mix of the citrus, Turkish delight and agave. A very satisfying and rewarding sipping tequila. For the adventurous and curious, not a mainstream agave spirit but for the brave, very rewarding. If I were to offer a criticism, it would be more rounded with a slightly higher ABV than the 40% as bottled. It just lacks a bit of bight.
