A rare red expression of the Tibouren grape, made by Clos Cibonne — the historic Roux family estate near Toulon that has been the custodian of this obscure Provençal variety since 1793. Clos Cibonne is one of the 18 Cru Classés of Côtes de Provence, and it is effectively the only producer making a serious red Tibouren.
A blend of 90% Tibouren and 10% Grenache, as required by the appellation. The style is juicy, sappy and fresh, with floral aromatics, green-tinged red berry fruit and a brisk, elegant palate. Many drinkers note a quality somewhere between Pinot Noir and Gamay — supple, perfumed and highly drinkable.
Hand-harvested from certified organic vineyards. Destemmed, gently pressed and fermented in stainless steel with wild yeasts. Unlike the estate's rosés, the red sees no extended oak ageing, allowing the purity and freshness of the Tibouren to take centre stage.
