Rouge d'une Nuit takes its name from the single night the juice spends on skins, and the result confounds expectations: a wine so pale it can pass for rosé in the glass, yet carrying the depth and savour of a proper southern red. It is a deliberately contrary piece of winemaking from a grower with a long history of ignoring convention.
The nose is bright and lifted, with red cherry, wild strawberry and crushed herbs over a peppery, faintly stony note. The palate is light on its feet but far from simple, with fine texture, gentle grip and a long, savoury finish. Serve it cool and it works across an entire table.
Château des Tourettes sits in the foothills of the Luberon and covers 19 hectares. Maine and Jean-Marie Guffens bought the property in 1997 and rebuilt it from the ground up, bringing their Mâconnais experience south. The Tinus wines, launched in 2016 and named after Jean-Marie's grandfather Martinus, sit outside the local appellation by choice.
