Le Cellier Saint Benoît is a small family estate in the village of Pupillin, in France's Jura, now led by the young, talented Benjamin Benoit. The domaine farms its steep parcels with care and crafts pure, transparent wines that have quickly won acclaim.
Les Charots is a single-parcel Chardonnay from steep vines on grey marl and limestone soils. Whole-bunch pressed, fermented with wild yeasts and aged in older barrels, it is a fine, mineral expression of the variety. Look for citrus and white-fleshed fruit, almond blossom and a subtle, stony minerality, all carried by fresh acidity and lovely balance.
An elegant, food-friendly white, it pairs beautifully with poultry, white fish, soft cheeses and creamy dishes.
