By Farr is one of Australia's most admired small producers, based at Bannockburn in the cool Geelong region of Victoria. Viognier is a specialty of the estate, made in a style that defies the variety's blowsy reputation, weighty yet refined and beautifully balanced.
Natural fermentation, a little skin contact and time in barrel build texture and complexity. Expect layers of peach and apricot with ginger spice, chalk and a flinty, savoury edge, over a velvety palate kept fresh by bright acidity and a saline finish.
Textured and long, it is a distinctive cool-climate Viognier that drinks well now and will hold for several years.
