Octomore 17.1
The starting point of the Octomore 17 Series, 17.1 is Bruichladdich’s super-heavily peated Islay single malt matured for five years in first-fill bourbon barrels.
Despite its intensity, 17.1 is remarkably composed. Sweet malt, vanilla and ripe orchard fruit sit alongside coastal minerality and layers of elegant peat smoke, making this a refined expression of the Octomore style.
Nose: Clean and refined, with sweet malt, vanilla custard, toasted coconut and butterscotch. Fresh citrus and melon bring lift, joined by floral barley, soft spice and coastal minerality.
Palate: Rich and mouth-coating, with vanilla, custard, malt sweetness and ripe pear. Peppery warmth and layered peat smoke are balanced by coastal salinity, coconut and gentle oak spice.
Finish: Long and layered, moving from sweetness into dry minerality, maritime salt, warm embers, soft char and lingering peat smoke.
Maturation: First-fill bourbon barrels
Age: 5 Years
