Brash Higgins is the McLaren Vale label of Brad Hickey, a former New York sommelier turned Australian winemaker based at the Omensetter vineyard with partner Nicole Thorpe. The label is known for its minimal-intervention approach, using small open fermenters, local amphora and seasoned oak.
100% Chenin Blanc from the Willamba Hill vineyard in the Blewitt Springs sub-region of McLaren Vale — a steep, south-facing site planted over deep white beach sands, the geology of which dates back some 50 million years to the ancient mouth of Maslin Beach. Expect aromas of pear, white flowers, honey, lemon and a lick of saline minerality reflecting those sandy, coastal soils. The palate is textural and chalky with fine natural acidity.
Hand-picked, wild-fermented in neutral French barriques and matured on lees for around 12 months to build texture and accentuate the maritime character of the site.
