Arran Signature Series Edition 2 Barrel Bonfire is the second release in the Isle of Arran distillery's Signature Series, this time turning to the distillery's smoky, peated side. It is an island single malt built around heavily peated spirit, designed to deliver rich, dry smoke alongside Arran's characteristic sweetness.
The cask story is central to its character. The whisky was first matured in bourbon barrels before being transferred into small custom quarter casks sourced from the Koval distillery in Chicago. The compact cask size drove intensive contact with the wood, shaping an intense, expressive maturation, and only a small number of these casks were ever filled. It is bottled non-chill filtered with no added colouring.
The nose offers caramel-coated hazelnut and praline, orange zest and abundant vanilla wrapped in dry bonfire smoke and sooty embers. The palate is rich, smooth and oily, with spicy cinnamon, flamed citrus and toasted oak resting over that smoky base. A long, sweet finish carries vanilla and peat on lingering dry smoke. A characterful dram for lovers of smoky single malts.
