Ardbeg 21 Year Old Private Single Cask 1565 700ml

Cask 1565 slumbered in a dark corner of Ardbeg warehouse 3 until it was rediscovered there. The whisky was distilled on May 23, 2000. For the finish, the creation was embedded - with the greatest care - in a former Oloroso sherry cask, which gave the smoky component a subtle sweetness. The Cask 1565 was only bottled in 2022 and now amazes with its rich intensity.

Dr. Bill Lumsden's personal tasting notes

Nose: Rich and wonderfully bold. Syrup toffee, smoked orange peel, muscovado sugar and Brazil nuts fill the nose. A splash of water reveals sherry notes of fruit, nuts, dates and figs.

Palate: Lush and mouth-filling, with molasses, toffee and Brazil nuts with embedded ginger chocolate. Before saying goodbye, notes of paprika, leather and anise develop.

Finish: An intense, long-lasting finish that combines smoke with spices and dried fruits.
