anCnoc Peatheart Single Malt Scotch Whisky 700ml
The Scottish uplands, particularly in the north and west, are home to expansive peatlands, known for their remote beauty and rich wildlife. These areas are vital for whisky production, providing essential resources. Established in 1894, Knockdhu Distillery, nestled near Knock Hill, benefits from abundant natural resources ideal for whisky making, including pure water springs and locally sourced barley and peat. Historically, peat has been used as fuel for the distillation process, traditionally cut by hand. The level of peatiness in whisky is determined by the amount of peat burned and the barley's humidity, measured by phenol content expressed in PPM (parts per million). To maintain consistency, Peatheart uses barley malted to 40 PPM, as specified by our Master Blender.
Colour: Pale amber
Nose: An initial smoky burst surrenders to a surge of fruitiness. Ripe pears and the citrus notes of apples and limes with just a touch of tobacco in the background. The nose is balanced yet an undeniable smoky sweetness prevails.
Taste: Smoke laced with leather and sweet stewed apples. Chocolate is there too, perfectly complemented by sweet vanilla and zesty lemon. The finish has a lingering warmth with a floral smokiness.
