This barrel stood out for the way its fruit character developed in the cask, layering the classic 1792 profile with an unmistakable note of ripe apricot and orchard fruit. Bold and characterful, this pick leans into the rich stone fruit at the heart of the 1792 profile, with the unmistakable influence of apricot brandy running through it.
Nose: Classic 1792 aromas of ripe banana, buttery toffee and vanilla open first, joined by the unmistakable lift of apricot brandy, poached stone fruit and a touch of orange zest over toasted oak and warming baking spice.
Palate: Rich, bold and layered, with candied toffee and caramel giving way to ripe apricot and apricot brandy front and centre, while honey, subtle citrus and a build of cinnamon, clove and charred oak carry through the mid-palate.
Finish: Long, warming and gently drying, the fruit slowly ceding to seasoned oak, leather and firm tannins, with dried apricot, vanilla and lingering apricot brandy holding on alongside classic bourbon spice.
