Tiefenbrunner is one of Alto Adige's most established and respected estates, based at the historic Schlosskellerei Turmhof in the village of Niclara. Their alpine vineyards rise sharply from valley floor to mountain slope, with cool nights and warm, sunny days that give Italian whites of unusual freshness and clarity. Merus is the estate's classic Pinot Grigio, made as a bright, food-friendly drinking wine that captures the variety at its most refreshing.
Sunny sand-yellow in the glass, the bouquet leads with ripe pear, green herbs and melon, lifted by a fine chalky note. The palate is dry and quietly weighty, with lemon zest, a touch of quinine bitterness and a wonderful sense of ripeness throughout. Fermented in stainless steel and rested briefly on fine lees, the wine drinks with poise, focus and a clean, mouth-watering finish.
A versatile food wine for crisp salads, antipasti, fresh seafood, light pasta dishes or a quiet glass on the deck.
