Ron Barceló Añejo is the four year old expression in the Dominican house's core range, made from fresh juice pressed from sugar cane rather than from molasses.
Ageing takes place in ex-bourbon oak barriques, giving a bright amber colour and a nose of melted caramel with clear hints of pepper and tobacco. The body is dry rather than sweet, with fruit running through the middle and a lightly spiced finish.
Balanced enough to sip neat or over ice, and dry enough to lift a classic rum cocktail.
