Bâtard-Montrachet is one of the four white Grand Crus of the Côte de Beaune, straddling the communes of Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet. Pierre Girardin's parcel sits on the Chassagne side, with vines over 80 years old growing on chalky soils with easterly sun exposure — among the most coveted vineyard land in Burgundy.
Fermented with indigenous yeasts in Girardin's signature 456-litre barrels (50% new) and aged 12 months in barrel followed by 7 months in stainless steel, the wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered. This is Grand Cru Chardonnay at its most profound — immense concentration, mineral complexity and a finish of extraordinary length, shaped by one of the most talented young winemakers in Burgundy.
