Old Pulteney 13 Year Old Traveller's Exclusive is a special release from the most northerly distillery on the Scottish mainland. Hand-selected by Distillery Manager Malcolm Waring, this expression was initially matured in American oak casks before being finished in Spanish oak, marrying two distinct wood influences to create a whisky of beautiful complexity.
The nose is rich and inviting, with caramelised apple, warm custard, and cinnamon-spiced pastries. On the palate, deep sweetness and spice arrive together — toffee, nutmeg, and caramelised popcorn develop into blossom honey, roasted almonds, and creamy vanilla. The finish is medium to long, with Old Pulteney's signature coastal character emerging as a gentle hint of sea salt.
Bottled at 43% ABV in a generous 1-litre format, this is an excellent example of the distillery's maritime-influenced style — a whisky that balances sweetness, spice, and the unmistakable salt air of Wick harbour.
