Murphy's Irish Stout has been brewed in Cork since 1856, when James J. Murphy founded the Lady's Well Brewery, named after a nearby holy well. It remains one of Ireland's classic stouts and a favourite in the pubs of Cork.
This draught version uses a widget to recreate the smooth, creamy pour of stout served on tap. It settles into a dark ruby black body topped with a dense, tan head. The flavour is smooth and mellow, with notes of roasted malt, coffee and chocolate, a light, creamy body and a gently bitter, dry finish that makes it very easy to drink.
For the best result, chill well and pour into a glass in one smooth motion, then let the head settle. It is a great match for oysters, beef and stout pies, Irish stew and chocolate desserts.
