Kumeu River's Estate Chardonnay is the flagship wine from New Zealand's most Burgundian producer, based in Kumeu, west of Auckland. The Brajkovich family has been making wine here since 1944, and their Chardonnays — fermented with wild yeasts in French oak — have earned a reputation as some of the finest outside Burgundy.
Whole-bunch pressed and barrel-fermented in older French oak, this is a Chardonnay of remarkable elegance and restraint. Citrus, white stone fruit and subtle nutty complexity sit on a palate of fine texture, gentle weight and bright acidity, finishing with a mineral precision that reflects the estate's unique terroir.
