Koerner Adelaide Hills Savagnin 2025 750ml
Savagnin is best known as the grape behind the oxidative whites of the Jura, but planted in a cool site and picked early it makes something quite different: taut, saline and full of drive. This one comes from the Koerner home block at Hazeldene in Lenswood, high in the Adelaide Hills, where Damon and Maddy Koerner live alongside their winery.
Koerner Wine started in 2014 and has built a following on transparent, minimal intervention winemaking. The Savagnin is made in the crisp, fresh style rather than the Jura's flor aged tradition, with the emphasis firmly on preserving the aromatics and natural acidity the site delivers.
Expect a bright, savoury white. Sea spray and citrus lead, backed by white stone fruit, green apple and a subtle nutty note, with racy acidity carrying a long, mineral finish. Serve it cold with oysters, sashimi or a plate of hard cheese.
