We selected a single barrel of High West’s iconic Double Rye, known for its bold spice and herbaceous character, and gave it a luxurious twist—finishing it for 8 months in a single Tawny Port cask. This finishing process brings a deeper, more focused profile to the whiskey, embodying the essence of what Tawny Port offers in A Midwinter Night’s Dram but in its purest form.

While A Midwinter Night’s Dram balances both Ruby and Tawny Port casks, this release focuses entirely on Tawny Port, drawing out rich flavours that are more nutty, caramelised, and laden with dried fruits. The result? A whiskey with incredible depth and complexity, perfect for those who love the warming, spicy richness of rye, with a beautiful balance of sweetness from the port.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Right away, you’re greeted with notes of dried figs, roasted nuts, and subtle caramelised sugar, backed by the rye's signature spice—think cinnamon and clove.

Palate: The Tawny Port influence shines through with flavours of toasted pecans, honeyed dates, and rich dark chocolate. The rye’s herbal spice is tamed by the port, adding a luxurious layer of sweetness without overwhelming the whiskey’s bold nature.

Finish: Long and lingering, with a smooth wave of spice and dried fruit, finishing on hints of oak and a warm nuttiness.
